TENTATIVE SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Keynote Address

Dr. Kenneth Poss was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Carleton College in Minnesota and his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University in 2001, Dr. Poss made the groundbreaking discovery that zebrafish had a remarkable ability to regenerate their hearts, a phenomenon off which he has built his career starting with his first and long-term faculty appointment at Duke University. In 2024, Dr. Poss was recruited back to Wisconsin where he serves as the Director of Regenerative Biology at the Morgridge Institute and is a Professor of Cell and Regenerative Biology at UW-Madison.

Over the course of his more than twenty-year independent career, Dr. Poss has made significant contributions to our understanding of how tissues, including the heart, fin, and spinal cord regenerate. His lab’s discoveries extend from the non-coding genome to the contribution of individual genes to the roles different cell types play in regeneration process. Along the way, his lab has been instrumental in establishing the zebrafish a pivotal model system for scientific research through genetic engineering and tool development. Throughout his career, Dr. Poss has been honored by many prestigious awards, including Pew Scholar, Howard Hughes Medical Institute Early Career Scientist Award, and multiple awards from the American Heart Assocation.

Talks in the two Concurrent Sessions will be selected from abstracts and awarded to scientists at all career stages!

Deadline to submit an abstract for consideration of a platform talk is October 1st.

Late breaking abstracts (poster only) will be accepted through October 31.
